In short, open research is an approach to research in which not only the results but also the methods and data are made as openly available as possible. By making research processes more transparent and accessible, the overall goals of open research are to foster collaboration and to amplify the impact of the results.

  • Karen Patterson, Brighton and Sussex Medical School

    Karen Patterson is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Brighton & Sussex Medical School.  She has a passion for teaching medical students and training the next generation of doctors. Her clinical and research work centres on sterile inflammatory lung diseases, and she is also a dedicated advocate for open research and greater accessibility in scientific discovery.
